Interprofessional education (IPE) offers a collaborative approach to person-centered care with simulations developed for multiple professions.
Dan is a 79-year-old with severe Wernicke’s aphasia. Dan and his wife attend therapy sessions regularly. Their goals are for Dan to communicate his needs and participate more independently in daily activities. You are assigned to complete Dan’s intervention session today.
Recommended time for completion is 120 minutes.
Hadley- Intervention (SLP)
Hadley is a 5-year-old with speech sound and expressive language disorders. You are assigned to work with Hadley, targeting both speech and language goals. Complete your intervention and then report your findings to your supervising SLP.
Recommended time for completion is 30 minutes.
Hadley- Assessment (SLP)
Hadley is a 5-year-old who was referred to your private practice for a speech and language evaluation. You are the speech-language pathologist assigned to complete her evaluation.
Recommended time for completion is 120 minutes.
Everett- Intervention (SLP)
Everett is a 6-year-old with Down syndrome and resulting communication and speech impairment. You are the speech-language pathologist assigned to provide his intervention session. This simulation is presented in partnership with Saltillo. The evaluation was completed independent of the Saltillo-Simucase partnership.
Recommended time for completion is 60 minutes.
Jonas- Assessment (SLP)
Jonas has been involved in early intervention since age 1 month. He is now 18 months old, and you are the speech-language pathologist assigned to complete his annual early intervention reevaluation.
Recommended time for completion is 90 minutes.
Jordan Z.- Assessment (SLP)
Jordan Z. is a 9-year-old with spastic paraplegia and resulting communication and speech impairment. You are the speech-language pathologist assigned to complete an AAC evaluation. This simulation is presented in partnership with PRC. The evaluation was completed independent of the PRC-Simucase partnership.
Recommended time for completion is 90 minutes.
Leah- Assessment (SLP)
Leah is a 4-year-old with a diagnosis of autism. She attends weekly therapy at a private clinic and was referred to you for an AAC assessment. You are a speech-language pathologist at an outpatient clinic assigned to complete her augmentative and alternative communication evaluation.
Recommended time for completion is 90 minutes.
Witten- Assessment (SLP)
Witten has been involved in early intervention since age 1. He will turn 3 soon, and you are the speech-language pathologist assigned to complete his early intervention exit evaluation and family consultation.
Recommended time for completion is 75 minutes.
Steven- Assessment (SLP)
Steven is a 60-year-old with a history of a traumatic brain injury and glioblastoma. He recently had a recurrence of tumor growth and a craniotomy. He was discharged home to his apartment and you are the home and community based speech-language pathologist assigned to complete his evaluation. The evaluation will take place in Steven's home environment.
Recommended time for completion is 120 minutes.
Julia- CLQT+ Part-Task Trainer (SLP)
Julia is a 55-year-old who is referred for an evaluation. You are assigned to complete the Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test-Plus (CLQT+) with Julia and report your findings.
