Students at the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNTD) are gaining a competitive edge in the modern workplace through Simucase’s Career Readiness learning tool.
Twenty-three undergraduate and graduate students from across academic disciplines used Career Readiness last spring as part of a selective internship scholar program supported by UNTD’s Center for Socioeconomic Mobility through Education (CSME).
Career Readiness focuses on building essential skills—including accountability, professionalism, communication, conflict management, and time management—through interactive simulations and expert-led videos.
“Career Readiness helped our students connect the dots faster while they’re in their internships,” said Sam Anderson, director of work-based learning innovation at CSME. “The Career Readiness learning modules allow them to directly apply what they’re learning to real-world situations they face on the job.”
To track impact, students completed pre- and post-assessments to measure growth in key skill areas aligned to the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) competencies. The data showed dramatic improvement in multiple areas after completing the program.
Strongest growth areas included:
Communication, active listening, and organization +49% growth
Complex problem solving +47% growth
Critical thinking and ethical decision-making +47% growth
Students gave Career Readiness a satisfaction score of 4.7 out of 5 and praised the program’s ease of use and relevance to their internship experiences.
Plans are already in place to expand Career Readiness to reach more UNTD students in the upcoming academic year.
“Simucase has been a true partner, listening to and implementing our feedback to meet our students’ needs,” Anderson said.
