Clinical Experience speech-language pathology extension activities and sample curriculum map
SLP extension activities
Posted September 20, 2024
To help Speech-Language Pathology students maximize the benefits of simulations, Simucase in collaboration with Becky Lulai, MA, CCC-SLP, has created extension activities and a sample curriculum map for a graduate-level course.
Extension activities are designed to deepen students’ understanding of the simulations, encourage critical thinking, and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Extension activities are found in the Debrief Questions section while viewing the case in debrief mode.

While in debrief mode, faculty can access each of these documents:
Extension Activity- Student Version: Students complete this fillable PDF to extend and deepen their knowledge of the simulation.
Extension Activity- Faculty Version: For faculty use only, this version provides an answer key for the extension activity.
Extension Activity Standards: This document provides an overview of the individual learning objectives and ASHA standards addressed in the extension activity.
Extension activities are provided for these simulations:
Pediatric Simulations: Arren- DELV Part-Task Trainer; Bubby- Assessment; Bubby- Intervention; Hadley- Assessment; Hadley- Intervention; Holden- GFTA-3 Part-Task Trainer; Jordan Z.- Assessment
Adult Simulations: Don- Intervention; Fiona- Assessment; Jim- Assessment; Joseph- Assessment; Julia- CLQT+ Part-Task Trainer; Julie- Assessment; Larry- WAB-R Part 1 Part-Task Trainer
Faculty can seamlessly integrate simulations, patient videos, and extension activities into graduate coursework to create a comprehensive learning experience for students. Review this sample curriculum map to see an example of how to structure Simucase simulations, videos, and extension activities for integration in a graduate level aphasia course.
